GreenField Ethanol (GFE)
Third Effect Evaporation

JNE Consulting was retained by GreenField Ethanol Inc. (GFE) to provide civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering services for a 3rd effect evaporation project at GFE’s Chatham  facility.

Two new evaporator columns were added to GFE’s existing evaporator train in order to increase evaporative capacity and reduce overall energy consumption at the facility.

The modifications to the evaporation system involved the addition of other equipment, including separators, a condensate receiver, recirculation and condensate pumps, as well as ducting, and piping.  The project also included new foundations and structural steel supports for the equipment, along with service platforms at several elevations.

The project was designed to be constructed and installed during normal plant operations, with a single plant shutdown to accommodate the required tie-ins.

JNE helped GFE finalize the P&IDs and prepared a full 3D model, showing new and existing structures, equipment, ductwork, and piping.  JNE provided final engineering drawings and specifications, as well as on-site construction support.

The new system was commissioned in October 2011.  The project was completed on time.
